Healing the pain associated with emotional neglect, by a family member or caregiver can be a challenging journey.
Around 62% of Australians report being abused and neglected in childhood, according to a major 2023 study conducted by the University of Queensland.
Research and societal focus on emotional abuse and neglect is less than physical and sexual abuse, possibly due to their less visible immediate impact and cultural variations in their definition, however
Emotional neglect includes visible aspects like swearing, yelling, criticism, or humiliation, as well as less noticeable forms like unrealistic expectations.
Emotional neglect, such as failing to address a child’s emotional needs, can be challenging to identify. Many parents or caregivers struggle to create a safe and loving atmosphere for their children, especially when dealing with their own relationship challenges, mental health concerns, or addiction issues.
This 8 week program is designed to support young people in understanding, processing, and healing the emotional pain associated with their childhood experiences, through a holistic and integrative approach.
