Supporting Connection, Understanding and Growth

Every relationship experiences challenges. Communication can break down, conflict can become repetitive, trust may be damaged, or partners may find themselves feeling disconnected from one another.

Couples counselling provides a safe and supportive space to explore these challenges, gain a deeper understanding of one another and develop healthier ways of communicating and relating.

At LUME Healing, Holly offers a compassionate, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, tailored to the unique needs of each couple.

Counselling can help couples better understand themselves, each other and the patterns that influence their relationship.

Our Approach

Counselling is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about helping both partners feel heard, understood and supported while exploring the patterns that may be keeping the relationship stuck. Many relationship difficulties stem from deeper attachment patterns, emotional needs and protective responses that develop over time. Understanding these patterns can help couples move from blame and conflict towards greater connection and understanding.

A core aspect of Holly’s work is Parts Work Therapy, which helps couples understand the different protective parts that can emerge during conflict, such as withdrawing, becoming defensive, seeking reassurance or avoiding difficult conversations. Developing awareness of these patterns can foster greater compassion, emotional safety and connection.

Creating emotional safety is a central focus of couples counselling. When both partners feel heard, respected and understood, meaningful conversations and lasting change become possible.

Sessions draw on trauma-informed, evidence-informed and holistic approaches to support meaningful and lasting change.

What to Expect

Couples counselling is a collaborative process.

Together, we will explore your relationship challenges, communication patterns, attachment needs, strengths and goals while developing practical strategies to improve understanding, connection and wellbeing.

Whether you are navigating difficulties, rebuilding trust or simply wanting to strengthen your relationship, counselling can provide support at any stage of your journey together.

Where there are concerns relating to family violence, coercive control or ongoing safety risks, an individual assessment may be recommended to ensure couples counselling is appropriate and safe for everyone involved.
